WHY MOZAMBIQUE & THE MARATANE REFUGEE CAMP

80%

Widows and abandoned women lead 80% of households in the camp.

50%

Children 15 years old and under make up 50% of the camp's population.

Sick

Thousands of children and adults suffer from typhoid, dysentery, hepatitis, malaria and parasitic infections.

Hungry

Food is in chronic short supply; half of children under the age of five are chronically malnourished.

Thirsty

Drinking water is so scarce during the 8-month-long dry season that people literally fight over it.

TESTIMONIALS

Widow's Garden

“I am very grateful. The food from this garden feeds five children and is saving us money we would normally spend at market. I would love a bigger garden to feed my neighbors.”
